The human pelvic floor is often compared to a hammock formed by an intricate web of muscles and fascia. These muscles and tissues are firmly attached to the front of the abdominal wall and the pubic bone, with the pelvic bones on either side, and the lumbar spine extending down to the sacrum and coccyx at the back.

The pelvic floor consists of three major systems: the reproductive system (uterus, vagina), the lower urinary system (bladder, urethra), and the lower digestive system (rectum, anus). Its primary function is to support these organs in their correct positions, preventing them from prolapsing during heavy lifting, physical activity, or running.

In the past, treating urinary incontinence typically involved patients performing pelvic floor exercises, such as Kegel exercises, which required high levels of persistence with often limited results. However, the emergence of new technology, Emsella, offers a more effective solution.

Emsella is a device developed by the UK-based company BTL, which has been FDA-approved in the U.S. for its effectiveness. It uses High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic (HIFEM) technology to deeply stimulate the pelvic floor muscles. The focused electromagnetic energy penetrates deeply, triggering thousands of pelvic floor muscle contractions, which help tighten and strengthen the pelvic region.

Treatment with the Emsella chair is highly efficient and convenient. Patients can remain fully clothed while simply sitting on the chair for 28 minutes per session, twice a week. A complete treatment series involves six sessions.
